I saw that. Several flight schools have made their online private pilot ground schools available for free. It takes a special kind of person to complete these kind of courses online without an instructor. There will always be q uestions and an online class puts the burden on the student to find the answers. The big concern is determining whether or not that answer is correct.

I have no desire to get a license, but I wouldn’t mind learning something about flying, so if I weren’t so damned lazy I’d work through one of them.

It’s an information-dense activity. There’s a lot to learn. If this level of understanding were required for getting a driver’s license, very few people would be driving.
